Built for Educators.
Respectful of Students.
CheatNt is a privacy-first academic integrity tool that keeps all monitoring local. We believe in protecting both the value of education and the dignity of students.
How CheatNt Works
Instructor sets up a session
The instructor creates a session in their CheatNt dashboard — specifying the project type (take-home or exam), duration, and which students are expected to participate. A session token is generated that students will use to activate the agent.
Student downloads and runs the agent
Students download the CheatNt agent installer for their OS (Windows, macOS, or Linux). The agent runs in the background as a lightweight process. It starts a local SQLite database to record events — nothing is sent to any server during the session.
The agent monitors the session
During the session, the agent listens for keyboard events, clipboard access, and file system changes. It calculates an integrity score based on typing speed distributions, copy-paste patterns, and code file modification timestamps — flagging statistical anomalies as incidents.
Copy-Paste Detection
Clipboard contents compared against keystroke stream to identify externally sourced code insertions.
Fast Insertion
Large code blocks appearing faster than human typing speed indicate AI-generated or pre-written content.
File Monitoring
Unexpected modification of project files outside the active editor window is flagged for review.
Report generation and submission
At session end, the agent compiles all logged events into a signed integrity report. A cryptographic hash of each incident is sent to the CheatNt backend — just the hash, never the code. When the student submits their project, they also hand in this local report file. The instructor can verify it against the backend hash log to confirm it hasn't been altered.

1. What Data We Collect
CheatNt is designed to minimize data collection. The agent running on a student's machine logs keyboard timing metadata, clipboard event flags, and file modification events — all stored locally on the student's device. We never collect, store, or process actual source code.
The only data transmitted to our servers are cryptographic hashes of detected incident records, along with account metadata (name, email, subscription plan).
2. How We Use Your Data
Account data is used to authenticate users, manage subscriptions, and deliver the service. Incident hashes are used solely for report verification — to confirm that a submitted report has not been tampered with after the session ended.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be shared with payment processors (once integrated) and cloud infrastructure providers under strict data processing agreements.
4. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Incident hashes stored for report verification are pseudonymous and retained for the duration of the academic session they belong to.
5. Student Rights
Students using CheatNt have the right to know what the agent monitors. This is documented in the How It Works section above. Institutions using CheatNt are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from students prior to deploying the agent.

Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account on CheatNt.dev or downloading the CheatNt agent, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the service.
2. Permitted Use
CheatNt is licensed for use in legitimate academic integrity monitoring contexts. You agree to use CheatNt only in environments where all participants (students) have been appropriately informed and have consented to monitoring, in accordance with applicable laws and institutional policies.
3. Prohibited Use
You may not use CheatNt to surveil individuals without their knowledge or consent, for purposes unrelated to academic assessment, or in violation of any applicable privacy law. Misuse of the platform will result in immediate account termination.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
CheatNt is offered as a subscription service. A 7-day free trial is available without a payment method. After the trial, continued access requires an active paid subscription. Billing details will be communicated when the payment gateway is enabled.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
CheatNt is provided "as is." While we strive for accuracy, CheatNt's detection results are statistical indicators and should be used as supporting evidence, not as sole proof of misconduct. Final academic decisions remain entirely with the instructor and institution.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CheatNt.dev and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the service.
7. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify registered users of material changes by email.
